Topographic Diagnosis
Locating the exact site, degree and pattern of collapse during sleep is the first step before choosing any treatment.

Videosomnoscopy (DISE): Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy
Precision diagnostics. We see in real time the site, degree and pattern of collapse during sleep to design a tailored treatment.
Pharyngeal & Laryngeal Airway
Diagnostic and surgical procedures for the soft palate, lateral pharyngeal walls, tongue base and epiglottis.

Da Vinci Robotic Surgery (TORS) & Coblation
Cutting-edge technology for pharyngeal, tongue base and epiglottic obstructions. Millimetric precision resections without external incisions.

Pharyngoplasty: Palate & Oropharynx Reconstruction
Definitive solutions for lateral and retropalatal collapse. Modern techniques that reposition and tighten tissue to widen the airway.

Septal Cartilage Graft Pharyngoplasty
Dr. Méndez-Benegassi's pioneering technique: stiffens the palate with the patient's own septal cartilage to reduce snoring, in a single multilevel outpatient procedure.

Hypoglossal Nerve Implant (Nyxoah)
Bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation: a minimally invasive surgical alternative to CPAP for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea.

Genioglossus Advancement & Hyoid Suspension
Skeletal framework modification to maximize respiratory space. We act on anchor points to prevent gravity-induced collapse.
Conservative & Therapeutic Treatments
Non-surgical alternatives and complementary therapies for snoring and sleep apnea.

Positional Therapy
For apneas occurring exclusively when sleeping on your back. Electronic vibration devices and postural training.

Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD)
The main alternative to CPAP for mild and moderate cases. Personalized intraoral device that advances the jaw during sleep.

Myofunctional Therapy
"Gymnastics" for breathing muscles. Specific exercises to increase upper airway muscle tone.
Pediatric
State-of-the-art surgical techniques for childhood snoring and sleep apnea.

Intracapsular Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy
State-of-the-art surgery for pediatric sleep apnea. Coblation and radiofrequency: less pain, minimal bleeding and 3-4 day recovery.
Nasal & Sinus Airway
The nose is the gateway of the respiratory system. Optimizing nasal function is essential for treating apnea and snoring.

Septal Cartilage Graft Pharyngoplasty
Dr. Méndez-Benegassi's pioneering technique: stiffens the palate with the patient's own septal cartilage to reduce snoring, in a single multilevel outpatient procedure.

Septoplasty & Septorhinoplasty
Nasal septum correction with high-resolution optical microscope. Advanced surgical precision without uncomfortable packing.

Turbinoplasty with Coblation & Radiofrequency
Turbinate reduction with minimally invasive technology. Outpatient procedure with fast recovery.

Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
Comprehensive treatment of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. Gold standard to clean and open sinus cavities.
Multiple Surgeries in a Single Procedure

Nasal procedures are often combined with pharyngoplasties or robotic surgery (TORS) in what we call Multilevel Surgery, addressing all obstruction points in a single intervention to maximize the chances of curing sleep apnea.

Frequently asked questions
Answers about snoring and apnea surgery.
Frequently asked questions
What is septal cartilage graft pharyngoplasty and how is it different?
It is a pioneering technique by Dr. Méndez-Benegassi that uses the patient's own septal cartilage —harvested during a septoplasty— to graft 3-4 pieces into the soft palate, increasing its stiffness and reducing snoring. In a single, multilevel and outpatient procedure both the nasal obstruction and the snoring are addressed at the same time, and because it uses autologous tissue there is no rejection.
What is the Nyxoah hypoglossal nerve implant?
The Nyxoah (Genio™) system is a bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulator that keeps the airway open through gentle activation of the tongue muscles. It is a minimally invasive surgical alternative to CPAP for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea, placed through a small incision under the chin, with no internal battery and activated each night by an external adhesive patch.
What is DISE / sleep endoscopy for before surgery?
DISE (drug-induced sleep endoscopy) is an endoscopy performed while the patient sleeps under controlled sedation to see in real time which structures collapse (palate, tongue, walls or epiglottis). It allows designing a tailored surgery, maximizing success and avoiding unnecessary procedures.
When is snoring or apnea operated on, and when is CPAP or an oral appliance enough?
There is no single best option for everyone. CPAP is the reference treatment for moderate-to-severe apnea, an oral appliance (mandibular advancement device) suits snoring and mild-to-moderate apnea or CPAP intolerance, and surgery is considered when there is a correctable anatomical site or when the other options fail. A specialist decides after a proper study, based on severity (AHI), anatomy and your preferences.
